SURFERS 1,2,3
I created these graphics in 2023, exploring my love for surfing and high energy design. These three surfers are original works by myself and represent various styles of surfing at either sunset or sunrise.
As with most of my projects, I started with sketching ideas on paper. In this case, my objective was to find the angles and forms of the surfers to create their energetic motion on the waves.
Inspiration;
I was inspired by Mami Wata, an African surf and lifestyle brand not only known for it’s incredible designs, but for it’s impact on society as a whole. A truly inspiring company on all fronts.
I’d be lying to say that Japanese design and symbolism didn’t creek into the overall design. I love the simplicity and power of Japanese art and design.
The background represents either a sunset or sunrise. The two most magical times of the day to surf. (In my opinion)
The Colours;
My final opportunity to amplify the energy and joy of surfing. Each colour combination harmonious with the yellow sun and dotted border. But otherwise starkly different combinations to evoke different energies.
